What is Arkhub?

Arkhub is a database of archaeological places, finds, peoples and events. Every site has one record. Each record holds its facts, its sources, and the claims people make about it: when it was built, by whom, for what, and how it aligns with the sky. Claims that disagree sit side by side, each with its sources. You read records, collect them in repositories, see them on a map, and write about them. If you are a researcher, you also add records, suggest changes, and challenge claims with your own evidence. Arkhub is in beta. The app is at app.arkhub.co.

How Arkhub works

One record per place

A place or an object has one record that everyone shares. Each change is saved with who made it and why. You can open any earlier state of a record and compare two states side by side.

Claims with sources

A dating, an attribution, a purpose or an alignment is a claim. A claim says how it was established and which sources back it. Two people can hold two different datings of the same site. Both show on the record.

Your own version

You do not need to agree with the shared record. Add your own claims or object to existing ones. Arkhub assembles your version of the record from your challenges. Others can read it, and a repository table can show every record as your version.

Repositories and maps

A repository is your collection of records. Search Arkhub for records, pick them on a map, or add every record that fits a rule. Then study them in a table, a timeline, a gallery or on a map.
